Are you looking for more ways to update your home quickly and easily on a budget? Here’s a
bright idea: Light Bulbs! My favorite way to brighten up a home is to use the same Kelvin of light bulbs to create great light and a cohesive look throughout. So, what is a Kelvin? Kelvin is the temperature of your light bulb that ranges from warm, more yellowish light to cool blue light on a number scale 2700-5700. I generally stick with the 3000k light range, this is a warm white and therefore creates warmth in your home without being too yellow. Each individual light fixture is going to have specific requirements for the bulb base (E26, E12, A19, etc.) and wattage requirements (40W-100W) so you will want to look at the specs of your light fixture for that information. In general LED bulbs are going to be the most accessible and popular light bulb type you can buy. When it comes to the look of a light bulb, my general rule of thumb is if you can’t see the light bulb, buy the most basic option. If you can see the bulb in
the fixture whether the shade is pointing down or the bulb is exposed, spring for the more decorative Candelabra or Edison type bulbs to complete a decorative fixture.
I’ve pinned a couple of my favorite light fixtures this month to inspire you as you continue to update your house and create a home!
